Help! It's an emergency!

I own at least 12 pairs of jeans. I'm down to one pair that still fits. (Hey, you put on 10 pounds of pure belly and see how comfy your pants are.) If I'm lucky, I think I have another 2 weeks before these jeans refuse to button and then I will be entirely jean-less. This cannot be allowed to happen. I am perfectly happy in hand-me-down maternity clothes or whatever I can find at Target for everything else, but I have to have a really good pair of jeans or I will not survive the next 5 months.

Help me out, mommies. Where can I get good maternity jeans? Bonus points if they are specially designed for stubby little legs and an ass that grows more outrageous by the day.

(Also, I can't decide whether I am thrilled or depressed that I have gained 10 pounds and nobody can tell.)

I have yet to find a good pair of maternity jeans...though I have a pair from Motherhood with the little band around the top that are really comfy but have a way of making the ass look even bigger, so I wear those around the house. I have found that (though maybe a waste of money)it works for me to just buy jeans in larger sizes rather than buying maternity jeans. I have been living in black knit pants now for a month.

Three best maternity stores: MOtherhood, Maternite, The Pea Pod. It's not unusual for people who are very thin to gain a lot of weight in the beginning of pregnancy

motherhood maternity... i found a decent pair there, i also fell in love with a pair of overalls i got there. you'll find that you will soon forego style for comfort.

also, i want to warn you that those jeans you so adore, may not ever fit on your body again. i've sadly had to say goodbye to a handful of clothing that just won't fit over my post-preg bootie.

worth every penny.

Oh! Also: onehotmama.com has some great stuff (she changes the inventory pretty frequently) and she has a huge page of links to other retailers.

Nope sorry, can't help you! Good luck though :)

You can make your old jeans fit a little longer if you take a rubberband and loop it through the button hole and then hook it over the button.

Hope that helps! My favorite pair of maternity jeans came from Motherhood.

Two suggestions--Levi 501s and unbutton a button or two as your belly grows--I swiped some from my husband and my brother. Baggy but comfortable. The other idea is Old Navy--had a couple pair I liked from there--but they didn't fit past my sixth month. Just remember it's all temporary! Good luck.

I was going to suggest motherhood, but others already did :-)

My vote is for thrilled. Pregnant women never look fat. There's something magical about how their shape changes throughout their pregnancy. What a miracle!

The Gap! They have some really cute maternity clothes AND jeans ;) You can take a peek online, I love them.

Old Navy sells Maternity clothes, and so does Wal-Mart - for the 6 months that you'll wear 'em Wal-Mart clothes aren't all that bad. I must admit I'm lucky. I'm the youngest of my group of friends and I hit the jackpot - between all of them they managed to lend me 3 boxes of clothes!

Everyone's already made some great suggestions here so there's nothing I can add. Except maybe you should change out your lovely yellow fishy on your blog to a pregnant guppy or something? How cute would that be? :)

Okay, no idea if these things work worth a flip, but I remembered reading about them: http://store.babycenter.com/product/clothing/moms_essentials/maternity/5633

You can get an insert which allows you to wear your jeans open. It clips onto th ebutton and button hole. Personally I think it looks a bit strange so if you did that then it may be best to wear a long shirt.

I found ultra low rise jeans (one size up from my regular size) to be much more comfortable than maternity jeans. Late in the pregnancy, the jeans were chucked in favor of All Things Knit and Stretchy, but the jeans were comfortable for a while after having the baby/before losing all the weight.

I had good luck with Target for basic, affordable belly- and body-containing clothes. Enjoy the weight gain--you're making a human. It'll go back down again.

Geez - I wouldn't call gaing 10 lbs a lot of weight to gain early on... Don't give her a complex:).

I got a pair of really cool jeans from Target a few weeks ago. But I'm 5'9" and the size 10 fit perfectly length-wise. I bet they would be too long on you... They are below the belly style, so I have a hard time keeping them up - but hey, they look cool. The sad thing is they are hipper than my pre-preg jeans...

I totally trust Roxanne at One Hot Mama and she says the jeans they carry are great. I was going to get those if the Target jeans hadn't worked out. Another mom I know online raves about the Japanese Weekend cropped jeans. Best money she ever spent she says.

I have to say that the GAP has good maternity clothes. They're pretty inexpensive which is a good thing. And, sadly I have to second the comment about not fitting into your pre-maternity jeans. I am back down to my regular size, but things aren't where they used to be.

mimi materniy has great maternity jeans. you may want to invest the money into getting a really good pair of maternity jeans. it will be well worth the money.

and i bought a really great pair at Thyme maternity (but it think it's only in canada)

i would not recommend old navy for their jeans - they just are not cut right. they are fine for sweaters and t-shirts, but not jeans. jeans are really tough to make look nice during pregnancy.

you need something without patches or bands etc. something that goes under the belly as you grow, and it has a little elastic at the back for comfort, but the front looks like regular old jeans.

good luck!

I lived at Motherhood and Old Navy last pregnancy. They've got good stuff and way cheaper than places like Pea in a Pod and others. I don't mind spending money on clothing, but when it's only going to be worn for a few months, I don't see the sense in emptying out my wallet.

And seriously - you're doing great. Because I'm behind you and only have one pair of jeans that still fit. Some of the others I can't even get up over my hips and ass. Wahhhhh.

Wish I could help, but I practically lived in stretch leggings and other things when I was pregnant.

No suggestions as I barely remember being as small as you are!! But hey, be happy that they havent noticed yet... they will soon enough! ;o)

I had a bit to read to catch up, but glad to hear you're doing so well! As far as jeans, afraid I'm not much help. I'm not even pregnant and I have a hard time finding a pair that I like. My favorite are 4 years old now, and still doing nicely. Infact, I think the age is part of what makes them a fav. Good luck in your jeans search!

as I have never been pregnate I have no wisdom for you....but I think you are really pretty...10 Beans pounds more and all..and I'm sure you are having a great hair day :)

Well, you're going to have to spend at least $150 on a pair of jeans, but they're jeans you can wear throughout your whole pregnancy and look REALLY COOL IN THEM. Citizens of Humanity maternity jeans: http://www.eluxury.com/browse/product_detail.jhtml?SectionID=5000&styleid=10545020

I've got two pairs of maternity jeans...one pair is a borrowed set that has the belly-panel (very comfy and makes my butt look good, strangely enough) and the other pair I got at Target. It has a really wide-band, not a panel. Or you can try Chris' pants--of course I don't have a clue what size Chris is...

Ginny - getting into Chris' pants is what got Beth into this situation! ;)
Sorry - had to be said.

I'm going against the majority here but I found Motherhood to be crap. I never tried Mimi or Pea in the Pod because I just couldn't justify spending that kind of $$ on clothes I'd only wear for a few months.

For jeans I liked Gap and H&M. Stylish, comfortable and affordable. The only drawback to H&M is that they don't sell online (or didn't when I was pregnant) and don't carry maternity in every store.

I also LIVED in my black yoga pants from Gap - especially in those last few months.

Good luck!

Lands End has maternity clothes now too. They cost more than WalMart, but being your first pregnancy, you can be pretty sure you'll wear them again. Also, they come in shorter lengths. I'm short, too and always had problems finding mat. pants the right length. I always found JCPenney's to have pretty decent maternity clothes as well & they occasionally had pants in "short."

Good Luck!

Wow...good to know that I'm not the only jean whore out there! :) Currently I'm wearing Motherhood. I also have Pea in the Pod and for a short while during the beginning of this pregnancy story, I wore Sevens. But ha...there's no way I could fit in them now.

Oh and I also like the Gap as well. Okay, so I have a lot of jeans for pregnancy and not-pregnancy. :)

Old Navy maternity has cute/cool jeans that are really comfy. Also, since you're not that far along yet? You can try the ones with elastic waste bands and probably be just fine!
