I'm not sure which bit of the following is the bigger piece of news, so let's just give them equal billing, shall we?
My kid pooped.
In the potty.
(And really, I don't see why people get all het up about potty training. Sure, I didn't have to change her diaper, but I still had to wipe her butt.)

How much did the butt wiping cost you?
And the pack of diapers?
See?

Ha ha! Congrats on the poop! I was talking about potty training with a friend of mine who is trained 3 and she said the same thing... it's not that great because you still have to clean them up for another year or 2! At least it's a step in the right direction.

Congrats on the poop and in the potty! So only 5 more years of whiping butts for you!

I know you have a lot to do and all, but can you potty train Michael.
Thanks.

Yeah, and you have to wash the potty out too.
But still? Cheaper than diapers and they do eventually learn to wipe themselves.
WTG Mia!
Maybe with the excitement of doing it in the potty, she'll be over her poop issues?

It is that step in the direction of independence. Congrats!

From a fellow Mom who had a hell of a time potty training her kid........CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!
I remember when Eric pooped in the potty I totally freaked out, I was practically crying, probably because he was 4!

Yay Mia!
and Amen, mom!

Just as long as Mia didn't get scared by it. I got my daughter to poop in the potty for the first time about 4 months ago...then when I made a big deal out of her going potty like a big girl, she got scared of the poop IN the potty, and now she won't even go near the thing. I'm worried I'll still be changing diapers when she gets to Jr. High....

Well... you'll continue wiping that butt for a couple of years too (if you want it really wiped) but it sure beats the heck out of physically removing a big turd from her pants.

Yay Mia! You go girl!

maybe this will help the great poop debacle! maybe she didn't want to poop because she didn't like the feeling of it in her pants. I know I don't, lol

Most bizarre thing I've ever seen? On John and Kate Plus 8 she takes a picture of them with the POOP and saves it for their baby book.

Woohoo! And if nothing else, she'll learn to wipe her own butt once she's in some sort of school (pre-school, kindergarten, whatever), because there is nothing worse than having to ask your teacher to do it for you.
That is, assuming she poops Not At Home. Which at this point? I'm somewhat doubting.

I know I was just psyched to finally be done with diapers. One less diaper to change and one less pack to buy was always a good thing.
Congrats to Mia!

Man, I wish that pooping in the potty could filed under Biggest Achievment Of The Day for me.
Is....is, uh, that not realistic for a 26 year old woman? Even if I wipe my own bum?
Dang.

only my eldest (of 5) used a potty. All the rest so far have wanted to go straight on the toilet like everyone else (with a child insert seat).
oh and i found they just didn't poop at school, but saved it for home. My 7yr old STILL does that 'sigh'. If he does poop at school he comes home and tells me about it with much fanfair!

Oh but the beauty is that once you wipe, you can flush it all away and NOT put it in a diaper pail full of more poo.
It's like magic!

I would much rather wipe a small amount from my kids butt then change a poopy diaper - so YAY! That's awesome! Mine will poop in the potty if I catch her pushing, but that's as far as I've gotten with potty training.

woop woop for poop! (in that potty that is)

Yeah Mia! It's one step closer to her wiping her own butt, so I say rejoice. :-)
