Family Vacation

My family is a little unusual. As proof, I offer the following:

We are spending a week at the beach with both kids, my parents, my in-laws, my brother, his wife and my niece, and my brother's in-laws. And we are all pretty damned happy about it. My first cousin once removed was here too, but he had to go back to work.

So, don't expect to hear much from me this week, Chris will keep you updated if you need a fix.

Ha! I've got you beat (barely).

We are going to beach (OBX) in August with my family, my mom, my brother-in-law and his family plus my MIL and FIL. The unusual part of this mix is that when we planned the trip MIL and FIL were divorced (he was remarried and is now divorced from wife # 2) but since MIL and FIL are dating again now (and moving in together soon) we have an extra room.

But I love family beach vacations. Before kids, we always went with friends, but now I prefer the family trips. We have more fun and are more relaxed with our families.

Have an awesome week! Keep a pacifier in Owen's mouth so he doesn't eat too much sand.

Family beach trips rock. You can get a nice big place and split the cost of it, dinners, etc and provide a great time for everyone. Plus lots of family means lots of babysitters so Mom and Dad can get some much-needed rest/reading time :-)

Enjoy your trip!

We just missed you all. My mom and her family now live in the OBX, so now we have a free beach house. Sweet. My kids will get to know that grandma! Ha!

More power to you! I just spent a week in London with my husbands family (immideate and beyond) and thoughts of throwing myself in front of those double decker red buses defintely crossed my mind. I can't even imagine what a week at the beach would bring.

Sounds nice, not unusual at all. And your kids are lucky you all get along so beautifully.

I could do that...if I had lots and lots of alcohol and maybe some xanex.

We do (or have done I should say) a similar family vacation every year. It surprisingly works out very well and has included some of the best memories I have of spending time with my husband's family. My in-laws are currently in the process of trying to find a way for us to continue the tradition. (I hope the manage it.)

I hope you have a fantastic time on your vacation.

Would you please adopt me?

Have an awesome vacation.

I don't think your family is unusual for vacationing together. I am currently in a small town in Alaska, with my mother-in-law, her four grown children (one of which is my husband), all the spouses and their four kids, which makes a total of 13 of us, in a house with one bathroom. (And no one has killed anyone yet.) We've actually done this every summer for the past 12 years or so, and despite being surrounded by many, many in-laws in the house, and around town, (this is Mr. Pine's hometown) I wouldn't give up these family Alaska trips for anything. Well, I'll admit the one bathroom thing is a pain, but other than that I wouldn't change a thing.

My family is even crazier - parents where divorced when I was 10 and everyone is still friends. It really throws people for a loop - this is my dad, this is my other dad and my grandma from my stepdad. It's the only family I know that never gets rid of anyone.

Wow, I'd go mad with such a massive family concentration for one whole WHOLE week. Although all the fights could be quite amusing to watch...

Hope you are having a wonderful week at the beach!

That is fabulous that you guys can have that much fun together..... Happy Reunion.

Hope you're having a great time! My family's unusual, too: my father-in-law bought a farm. A FARM. We took a little vacay there.... :)
