Mia Monday #21: Water Water Everywhere Edition
Mia loves my water bottle. She loves drinking from it, sucking some water out and then spitting it on herself, dragging it around the house, turning it over to make big puddles on the rug. Really, it is the ultimate toy. Well, that and the Elmo cell phone she played with at a friend's house on Saturday and had such a fit when I took it away so we could leave that I made an emergency Elmo cell phone run on Saturday afternoon. That's right folks, we are no longer Elmo-virgins. May god have mercy on our souls.
Again, Chris took the pictures, but I carried her for nine months and then had her cut from my body, so it all works out.
Posted by Beth at June 5, 2006 06:30 AMWow...am I really the first to post!? I was so surprised to see Mia Monday posted this early, but she is adorable as always...and is that a skirt? What a cute outfit!! :)
Posted by: Dana at June 5, 2006 07:00 AMAh, see. I always suspected Mia and I could be the best of friends. Now that you tell me she is an Elmo fan I know for a fact we're like, totally meant to be BFFs. Elmo rocks! And no, I don't care that I'm 33 years old and sans child. I *heart* Elmo and I'm not embarrassed to say it. Tell Mia next time she stops by my blog (she does read me right??) she should definitely select the Elmo skin. It gives you a headache if you stare at it for too long but hey, nobody ever said love was easy. :-)
Posted by: patricia at June 5, 2006 07:02 AMMia Monday - the crack of dawn edition. You're at this early today! Those little chubby hands are so sweet! And I suppose congratulations are in order for de-Elmo-virginizing yourselves.
Posted by: Emily at June 5, 2006 07:15 AMVery cute!
Posted by: Snapper at June 5, 2006 08:04 AMAh yes, Elmo. There's no turning back now. Just wait 'til Mia's humming/singing the tune to Elmo's world.
Posted by: mamacita tina at June 5, 2006 08:26 AMI have that exact same skirt (in dark red though).
Mia and I have the same taste! and I LOVE my elmo cellphone.
Of course she had fit. It's the toddler razor.
that peasant skirt mia is wearing has to be just about the most awesome thing ever!!!!!!!!
the cuteness, as always, is simply overwhelming...
Posted by: averil at June 5, 2006 09:14 AMis that a teeny tiny little khaki skirt....omigosh!
I'm sure you said something witty...however, as usual, I pushed ahead for the pictures and got stuck there...
blah blah blah
water bottle cuteness....
happy monday

The "Chris took the pictures" sentence had me rollin'. And it *is* a very grown up outfit on that munchkin! She's squeezable, for sure.
Posted by: Alex at June 5, 2006 09:48 AMI love her ensemble! Tres Chic!
Ah the wonder of Mia Monday! What a great way to start my week!
Your last sentence cracked me up. Both of my kids were c-sections and I always say "I'm the mom and I have the scars to prove it!" ;)
Mia, as always, is just too cute!
My nephew has that cell phone. Elmo calls a lot.
I'm not sure how it is possible, but Mia gets cuter every Monday. How is she doing that?
Posted by: bad penguin at June 5, 2006 10:18 AMI can tell she's thinking "Dad's guitar really needs some water - it's looking a little dry these days..."
Mia is looking so grown up these days! No wonder she has a cell phone...
Posted by: samantha at June 5, 2006 10:35 AMisn't that last phrase just the ultimate equalizer? get used to saying it -- i'm sure it will come in handy for the next several decades.
Posted by: mamadaisy at June 5, 2006 10:41 AMOh my GAWD, I love that outfit! She looks adorable! I think I know which Elmo cell phone you're talking about. We have one too. The child can't get enough of it.
Posted by: catbird at June 5, 2006 11:00 AMThere is no escaping Elmo. You did quite well keeping him at bay for nearly a year.
Isn't it funny, though, how a water bottle is almost as good as the Elmo phone? We got a lot of mileage out of empty yogurt containers and junk mail "credit cards" when B was that age.
Posted by: Kate the Shrew at June 5, 2006 11:05 AMi love that 3rd picture; you can just see the curiosity and concentration in her eyes!
Posted by: Judy at June 5, 2006 11:20 AMLovely. And that outfit is too precious. Rather bohème.
Posted by: Heather at June 5, 2006 12:56 PMCUT from your body??? Yeah...Chris still owes you for that one.
Posted by: wordgirl at June 5, 2006 01:01 PMNo wonder you don't clean the bathrooms...I'd never get anything done if I was surrounded by Mia cuteness all day. LOVE the skirt!
Posted by: Jaycie at June 5, 2006 01:39 PM;-) Mina still drinks out of a bottle, so she enjoyes the "dripping juice/milk all over the floor" game. I've got sticky spots EVERYWHERE.
Posted by: Ginny at June 5, 2006 01:40 PMElmos is cool!
cute pic's.... :)
Did she play with the phone you bought her? I did that a few times with G when she would go crazy over something at someones house and of course she would have nothing to do with it once I bought it.
Posted by: Lisa at June 5, 2006 02:31 PMWe had three of those much too vocal Elmo Stuffies around here at the same time, all talking and giggling at once. One cell phone is nothing.
Has she christened your keyboard with the water bottle yet?
Posted by: ann adams at June 5, 2006 02:32 PMI know you'll get buckets of comments saying the same, but, oh my, does she just get lovlier and lovlier. Not that she was ever funny looking, but, well- y'know. Anyway- gorgeous.
Posted by: heels at June 5, 2006 02:45 PMAdorable!
Posted by: Karen at June 5, 2006 03:02 PMoh my god, her little outfit is killing me.
KILLING ME.
Posted by: Sarcomical at June 5, 2006 03:21 PMI adore the outfit. So cute how she is dragging it around with her.
Elmo is annoying, but way better than Dora the Explorer.
Posted by: Melissa at June 5, 2006 03:56 PMI love her outfit. That is so adorable!
Posted by: Sparkle Pants at June 5, 2006 08:11 PMJoey LURVES the water bottle, too! She prefers it to any toy. Beautiful pics. She's so edible, too!!! Oyoyoy!
Posted by: haley-o at June 5, 2006 09:52 PMCute pictures.
As for terrific toys, have you tried the pot and the spoon? Although I don't know if it works if they don't find those two items themselves without help.
Posted by: cas at June 6, 2006 07:04 AMLilli was never an Elmo fan but she loved the little Elmo flip phone a friend gave her.
Posted by: Kelley at June 6, 2006 10:37 AMShe is absolutely beautiful.
Elmo...the infatuation only gets worse...trust me!! LOL
My daughter loves her dad's work 'pass' or whatever you call those id's officially. A friend's son made conversational noises into his dad's phone at 10 mo...they are pretty good at copying.
Just read some archives as I am new to you--I had 3 c-sections--two were for breech babies-(didn't try to turn them either). But, there are some positives to it--they are the prettiest babies. Mia is beautiful.
