It must be time for me to go to bed

You know what pisses me off about Windows? When you mouse over the "Start" button, it says "click here to begin." Since it is called the "Start" button, would it have killed them to say "click here to start"? Damn you, Bill Gates, I will never forgive you. At least, not until you give me a million dollars. I would forgive you for a million dollars.

Yeah!

I agree just on principle.

Why does it even say "start?" Didn't Windows "start" when I booted my computer? New word, please.....

one word: mac

Yep I agree with Kate, I'm happy to worship at the alter of Steve Jobs.

It's not you. Words are important. Don't get me started on advertisers who don't know the difference between 'less' and 'fewer'.

Ok... so what I want to know.... what all would you do for a million dollars?? and oh ummm... YEAH!

Posted by: corinna at June 30, 2006 02:43 AM

I had never, ever noticed that.

Yes, you're right. But I would forgive him for a million dollars, too.

mac mac mac

If Bill gave you a million and Warren Buffett gave you a million, would you just buy a Mac and put the rest in Mia's college fund, and forget about forgiving anyone?

Sort of like the "You've Got Mail" that's completely grammatically incorrect. Not that I have the best grammar in the world, but if you're going to use it as a company slogan than you'd think you'd check your English.

I was wondering about that, myself. But I do think it's time to get some sleep. Just on general principles, if nothing else. :)

I'd forgive Bill Gates for a million dollars, too. Just in case he's keeping track.

In Windows Vista? It just says start when you do that. Oddly, Windows Vista is like the bastard child of a Mac and the former versions of Windows.

I won't suggest a Mac. I'm a gamer. The PC is my "altar" of choice. I don't even use the Start menu anyway; I put anything I'll need on the desktop.

And shouldn't the "Start" button be the switch on the computer itself. In that case, wouldn't the "Start" button be the "Continue" button. Or the "Now What" button?

If it makes you feel any better, in the German version they actually say start, eventhough they could also have used begin (the German words are very similar to the English ones). Maybe you should get Windows in German...
